Mark Josephson is currently the CEO at Bitly, a company that shortens nearly half a billion links per month as an integral part of social, SMS, email efforts (and more) from publishers, brands, marketers, government organizations, educational institutions, non-profits and individual users. Prior to joining Bitly, Josephson was SVP at Patch Labs of AOL. The Makegood recently spoke with Josephson about Bitly’s unveiling its Certified Partner Program.
The Makegood: Congratulations on your recent unveiling of the Bitly Certified Partner Program. What is the program about, and what does it mean for the company?
Thank you, this is a great opportunity for us, social media platforms, and our customers.
The Bitly Certified Partner Program highlights platforms that integrate Bitly data and functionality, while improving security. Brand marketers can better control, measure and optimize the performance of their links.
The Makegood: What does the program mean for the other companies involved? How will this impact the industry?
Our inaugural Bitly Certified Partners include Spredfast, Percolate, Buffer, Sprinklr, Dynamic Signal, IFTTT and EveryoneSocial. We are always asked by our customers, “who do you recommend for publishing, monitoring and scheduling social media;” likewise our partners are always asked, “do you integrate with Bitly?” With Bitly Certified Partners, we’re ensuring all our customers know which platforms they can trust to deliver what they expect and need from Bitly.
The Makegood: Bitly is also welcoming Jennifer Hanser as Senior Director of Strategy and Partnerships to lead the program. What will her role as Senior Director entail, and what are you expecting from her?
Jennifer Hanser joins us from Sony Music Entertainment where she worked powerhouse deals within the music industry. Her expertise in licensing, product and strategy make her an ideal match for Bitly and our new Certified Partners Program. In addition to leading the new Program, Jennifer will be the front-line for partners—new and existing—as well as other business development opportunities.
The Makegood: How will you utilize the ever-changing technology in the industry to the company’s benefit?
We are aligned with marketers to help them make sense of their content and their audience across every platform and protocol.
The Makegood: Are you planning on further expanding the Bitly platform? What do you want to achieve in terms of future growth?
We anticipate the Bitly Certified Partners Program will become more robust as additional platforms are accepted and brands capitalize on the benefits.
The Makegood: Thank you, Mark.
