CEO Optimine, Tom Donnelly on What He is Bringing to the Company

TomD- OM- square- web-401Tom Donnelly is currently the CEO at OptiMine, a leader in cloud-based omni-channel marketing analytics and optimization. Prior to joining OptiMine, Donnelly was the COO and President at Digital River, where he led the global e-marketing, sales, client delivery, and infrastructure organizations for the company’s core enterprise e-commerce businesses. The Makegood recently spoke with Donnelly about his new positino at OptiMine.

The Makegood: Congratulations on being named CEO at OptiMine. With experience from several other roles you have had in the digital industry, what do you plan to bring to OptiMine? How will your role be different here?

I bring a blend of both eTail and agency perspectives to OptiMine.  I understand the challenges facing marketers and am delighted to bring OptiMine’s innovative solutions to these clients. I thrive in fast-growing technology companies and enjoy fostering a culture of innovation and speed.

My role will only be different in that I have seen many successes and mistakes.

The Makegood: The digital industry has been growing since its inception. Could you elaborate on what kinds of technologies you have seen emerge as the most useful? How will you utilize these technologies at OptiMine?

The evolution of the cloud and Web services have enabled enterprises to adopt new, increasingly complex and high value technologies more efficiently and effectively.

The Makegood: Along with welcoming you as CEO, OptiMine is also welcoming a new Board of Directors. How will you be working with your fellow board members, and do you have any particular goals that you feel the board should look to achieve?

I’m very excited to be working again with Ann Winblad and Mark Gorenberg; I worked with both at NetPerceptions. I’m very much looking forward to the opportunity to work now alongside Judy Owen as well.

First and foremost, our goal is to accelerate OptiMine’s growth at a very rapid rate.

The Makegood: Coming from several different companies, what do you feel that this new board will bring to OptiMine?

Our board members are brilliant strategic thinkers with a tremendous wealth of experience helping great technology companies reach scale. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with a board whose members have been instrumental to the success of so many industry leaders.

The Makegood: As a cloud based company, OptiMine needs to consistently evolve with the changes in the industry. How do you plan to keep the company up to date with the technology and trends?

One of the benefits of OptiMine’s cloud-based architecture is that it allows us to quickly adapt to the fast pace of digital advertising. It’s also critical to have a great team in place – which we have.
