Geoff Schiller on 212’s Upcoming Events

Geoff Schiller on interactive advertising.Geoff Schiller is the Chief Sales Officer at Hearst Digital Media and the President of 212, New York’s interactive advertising club. We recently spoke with Geoff about 212’s upcoming events. The Makegood: On July 25, you will host 212’s Summer Beach Party. What is the reason to celebrate and who will attend? Here’s a brief history on the event. Five years ago, we discontinued our popular Summer Boat Cruise in favor of the Beach Party, which has evolved into the only event of its size focused exclusively on the digital advertising community. Beach Party caters to approximately 2,000 digital media agency professionals and will draw some of the industry’s biggest and brightest publishers. Masters of “Old School” Rob Base and Young MC! will headline the entertainment this year, with Smokey Robotic opening the festivities and Power 105’s DJ Prostyle and 103.5 KTU’s Hollywood Hamilton set to host (Prostyle and Hollywood Hamilton courtesy of our Entertainment Sponsor iHeart Radio).
With regards to the celebration, the digital media ecosystem is defined by its collaborative spirit and its focus on innovation and constant improvement. In that respect, the talent our industry breeds is special so we want to celebrate the positive contributions all of these amazing people have made by creating the ultimate summer networking event. In launching the Beach Party our goal was to create an environment where agencies and publishers, industry luminaries and brand clients could come together, listen to great music and spend some quality time with their colleagues. What better place to make that happen than a beach in Manhattan?

The Makegood: What other events can the NY interactive advertising community expect to see coming from 212?

Next Tuesday, July 23rd we have an amazing Beauty Panel discussion at the New York Times building, featuring clients from Clarins, L’Oreal and Procter & Gamble – with moderation by Laura Bosman, New York Times editor. At Beach Party we’re going to be making a major announcement around an initiative we’ve put together that will take place during Advertising Week in September. More to come on that…but it will be VERY exciting news. We also have our 5th Annual Agency Quiz Bowl on October 24th…this event has become a staple with our agency membership. Lastly, building off of last January’s inaugural Winter Gala and its amazing turnout, response from guests, etc. we will begin working on plans for the January 2014 Winter Gala.

The Makegood: 212 is New York’s leading organization for the digital advertising industry. Where do you see the organization headed and what are you objectives?

Our goals as an organization remain consistent – to create a forum for our members to make meaningful connections, share collective insights and support the industry through education, programming and philanthropy. With the announcement of our new initiative at Beach Party we’ll grow our relationship with the digital community even more significantly. As always, 212 is a volunteer organization so we are only as strong as the engagement and passion of our membership allows including our committee members, volunteers, Board Members and attendees…everyone in the community plays an equally important role so we want to ensure everything we do aligns with our core strategy and how we differentiate ourselves from the other organizations. And of course, we thank all of our supporters for their immense and immeasurable contributions.

The Makegood: Thanks, Geoff.
